Things to Do

New Castle has several ways to get out and about and take part in the community. At the beloved Bellevue Park, a 328-acre preserved family estate turned state-mandated urban oasis, there are summer concerts every year that bring together neighbors of all backgrounds for fun-filled evenings of music. On a regular day, plan a wonderful afternoon at the park by sitting at the pond, hiking the beautiful woods, or taking a tour of Bellevue Hall. If you’ve ever seen the stone water tower from afar, you know where Rockford Park is located. The park — which was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978 — comprises large, grassy meadows with gentle slopes. Every year, the park hosts The Ice Cream Festival, where you can picnic and enjoy live music and vendors. Get a taste of culture at the annual St. Anthony’s Italian Festival, which offers a wide variety of delicious and authentic Italian food specialties. Winterthur Museum, Garden, and Library is a breathtaking place where Delaware’s past and present come alive.
